- biography
Jean Henze is a Minneapolis-based singer-songwriter/ guitarist who blends elements from her background as an English major and classical guitarist into a folk-rock format. While her mostly acoustic debut CD Whirlpool was described as haunting and lyrical: her second release, Heading for the Door featured a more electric edge, characterized as Emmylou Harris meets Spooky Tooth and The Clash. She’s a writer and guitarist with all the baggage that comes with long legs, red hair and a truckload of allergies. After playing coffeehouses and clubs in the 90’s Jean took a hiatus from performing to concentrate on raising children. Now she returns to the music scene with a new perspective featuring forays in flamenco (currently studying with Michael Hauser of the Zorongo Dance Theatre) mixed with folk, and a touch of American fingerstyle blues.

- “Outstanding musicianship...”
- “One of the most fascinating aspects of Jean’s songwriting talent is that she can say so much with a few words. The genius comes with her word selection and placement, and vocal presentation.”
